Connect
A safe and warm connection with someone you trust provides co-regulation; you can ‘borrow’ their calm.
When you are stuck in a rut and feeling down or blue you might notice that you withdraw from others. You may find that you isolate yourself and have no energy or motivation for being around people.
When you feel regulated, you feel more open to socializing; likewise being around people who are supportive and uplifting will help you to feel more calm, resilient and connected.
Think of someone who feels safe, caring and loving. You could reach out and connect with this person, face-to-face, video chat or by message.
You can also imagine spending time in the loving presence of someone (even someone who has passed). What would this person say to you? How would you feel if you were with this person? Imagine this person’s warm smile, kind eyes and maybe a hug or his/her hand on your shoulder.
You deserve support and love. ❤️
