How to use your body to soothe your mind.

Calm Practice

Coping Statements

Read (silently and out loud) and repeat as needed.

  • Not everything I think is true.
  • This feeling will pass.
  • I have survived every hard thing I have ever been through.
  • I am stronger than I give myself credit for.
  • I do not need to fight or fix my feelings.
  • Distress reminds me to come back to my breath.
  • My emotions are messengers signaling to me my needs.
  • I choose to honor my emotions by allowing them space.
  • I listen to the wisdom of my body and trust in my innate ability to heal and flourish.
  • I enrich my soul by speaking to myself with kindness and compassion.
  • I take each day at it comes, one step at a time.
  • A bad day does not equal a bad life.

What are some of your own self-soothing, coping statements?

Read each statement first silently and then out loud.
