Thigh Taps
Thigh taps are a useful tool for when we are in a public space and feeling anxious, triggered, overwhelmed, or dissociated. No one will know what we are doing! It is especially easy to hide if we are sitting at a desk or table.
Here’s how!
- Simply place your hands on top of your thighs and begin to tap back and forth. Keep your rhythm slow and rhythmical similar to a steady heartbeat.
- Make sure you also slow down your breathing rate, focusing on inhales that expand your diaphragm and side ribs and exhales that are slow and complete.
