How to use your body to soothe your mind.

Calm Practice

Hot Chocolate Breath

The delightful breathing tool will help you to extend your exhale and restore some calm.

Here’s how:

  1. Imagine you are holding a cup of hot chocolate in your hands. *You can imagine other objects too such as, a cup of tea, hot coffee or your favorite winter soup.
  2. As you slowly inhale through your nose, imagine you are breathing in the rich aroma of the chocolatey goodness (or the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, tea herbs, or spices from a winter soup).
  3. Slowly exhale through pursed lips, as though you are trying to cool down the hot chocolate (or coffee, tea, or soup) before taking a sip.
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 as long as desired. You could even imagine a gentle warming feeling in your hands as this calming breathing technique soothes and relaxes you.
