Brain Dump

A brain dump can help you clear your racing mind of worries, stop rumination and help you to switch off.

Here’s how!

  • Get a piece of paper and start a timer for 5 – 15 minutes.
  • Write down each and every thought that pops into your mind. You can also scribble, draw, and use single words.
  • Note any repeat thoughts and ‘my mind is blank’ thoughts. Try to write continuously in a ‘stream of consciousness’ style.
  • When the timer finishes, stop writing.

You might like to review your brain dump. You can make a plan to tackle your worries, burn or tear up the paper to ‘let go’ of everything it holds, or select one thought from the paper to focus on improving.
