Calm Practice

Savor A Scent

Find something that has a calming scent such as, a candle, hot chocolate, coffee beans, a flower, essential oils or moisturizer, and savor it.

Here’s how!

  1. Close your eyes. Bring the object to your nose and inhale slowly.
  2. Describe the scent to yourself.
  3. Notice all of the different fragrance notes.
  4. What emotion does this scent bring up for you?
  5. Do any thoughts or memories arise from this scent?

Sit with this practice as long as you desire. You could also switch to another scented object.  Notice how you feel after a minute or so of savoring a scent you love.
