How to use your body to soothe your mind.

Calm Practice

 Safe Place

Create a ‘safe place’ in your mind. You can return to this safe space any time you need to reset yourself and find a sense of peace and calm.

Here’s how!

  1. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths.
  2. Bring to mind a place that makes you feel content and secure. It might be some place you have been in the past or it might be your very own imaginary haven. You might be at the beach or a lake, in a forest or on top a mountain, sitting on a cozy couch by the fire, or inside a library. It does not matter where this place is, as long as it feels safe and calming.
  3. Imagine as many details as possible. What do you see? What do you hear? What do you smell? What can you touch?
  4. Stay here as long as you like. When you are finished, slowly open your eyes and return to the room. You can return to your safe place at any time.
