How to use your body to soothe your mind.

Calm Practice

Healing Breath

Take a comfortable seat and get ready to learn this beautiful breath practice to compassionately connect with your body, process emotions, and dissolve pain and tension.

Here’s how!

  1. Close your eyes or lower your gaze and take a scan through your body. Notice any sensations or emotions calling for your attention.
  2. If you are noticing an emotion, describe where you feel this in your body. What color is it? How big is it? What shape is it? What texture is it? If you are noticing a sensation such as, pain or tension, describe it.
  3. Begin to “breathe into” this emotion or sensation, visualizing your inhale filling up or wrapping around it. Picture your exhale cleansing and dissolving any tension or discomfort.
  4. Imagine a healing golden light coming down from above to fill and infuse this space, soothing and dissolving any distress or discomfort.
  5. Continue to breathe into this area, allowing your inhale to fill and nourish you and your exhale to release anything you no longer need. Each exhale also invites a deeper sense of relaxation and ease, creating lightness and expansion within you.
  6. Stay here for as long as you need, or until you feel some release.
