How to use your body to soothe your mind.
Calm Practice
Finger Taps
Bilateral stimulation can help us process emotions and memories by activating both hemispheres of our brain. It can also help us center our focus, providing a gentle way to stay grounded and connected to our body.
Last week’s post featured another form of bilateral stimulation: Butterfly taps.
Finger taps is another effective tool for calming anxiety when you are in public!
Here’s how!
- Bring your arms behind your back, crossing them over at your wrists.
- Begin to alternatively tap your thumb against your pointer and middle finger, tapping back and forth between your left and right hands.
- Make this tapping nice and slow as you calm your breath.
