Calm Practice

Awareness of Breath

This is a breath-awareness practice, where we simply notice and meet our breath as it is.

Here’s how!

  1. Place one hand on your chest and one hand on your belly.
  2. Breathe naturally and begin to observe the sensation under your hands. Which hand seems to be moving more?
  3. Notice the air moving in and out of your nostrils. Is it slightly cooler on the inhale, and slightly warmer on the exhale?

When your mind wanders, gently bring your awareness back to your breath.

You do not need to change anything; simply be with your breath, for as long as you desire.
