This past weekend I learned an important lesson: Always listen to my gut first!
Sunday morning I taught my first indoor cycling class at a new studio, with sub-average performance. When I agreed to teach this class the week prior, I did not feel 100% ready for this new leadership opportunity. My “training wheels” were still on. However, with my determination and passion, I took on the role.
As the week progressed, I became more stressed, overwhelmed, and fatigued…
Sunday morning arrived.
While I was physically prepared with a great class profile, featuring a new iPad application, I was not mentally ready. I did not have the mindset to teach the class on this given day.
The take home message as we begin a new week:
If you feel stressed, overwhelmed, or fatigued, do not push yourself to continue. Listen to your mind, trust your gut, and give your body a break. Recover. Start fresh the following week, day, hour, or minute (depending on the task at hand).
Have a wonderful week!
