Metacognition

The act of moving the experience of an emotion from the limbic system of the brain into the prefrontal cortex. At the prefrontal cortex, the emotion becomes purposeful action.

A recommendation from psychologists is to pause for 30 seconds as you imagine the consequences of stating out loud the thoughts in your head.

To understand your emotions, learn from your emotions, and be aware that your emotions do not lead to harmful or regretful actions.

Pretend you are watching yourself in a movie. Observe treating yourself and others with loving kindness and respect.
