Festive Recipe of the Week

This week we welcome and embrace slow evenings, cozy nights, warm mugs, and something sweet to share with loved ones near and far.

That’s my kind of winter!

Spiced Hot Cocolate

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Milk of choice
  • 1 1/3 cups Heavy Cream (separated)
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom
  • 4 ounces Dark Chocolate (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
  • Cocoa Powder (for dusting)

Directions

In a medium pot, heat the milk, one (1) cup of heavy cream, cinnamon, and cardamom over a medium flame. Warm until it just starts to bubble.

Place the chopped chocolate in a large mixing bowl. Pour the hot milk over the chocolate and let it sit for one (1) minute, then whisk until smooth and glossy.

In a separate bowl, whip the remaining 1/3 cup of heavy cream with the sugar to soft peaks. *Completing this step by hand is recommended; a little extra movement and more control over the texture.

Pour into mugs, top with whipped cream (if desired), dust with cocoa powder and a pinch of your favorite spice. Enjoy!

Yields: 4 servings

Cook Time:  5 minutes

Total Time:  10 minutes

What is your favorite winter drink or cozy ritual you practice every year?
