Help! I can’t keep my cat off the counter top!

SOLUTION

Place a few strips of double-sided tape on the counter top. Cats do not like the sticky feeling on their paws and they will jump off right after they feel it. 

Place lemon or orange peels on the counter top (or use a lemon or orange scented multipurpose cleaner to the clean counter top). Cats tend to avoid citrus smells.

Place a piece of aluminum foil on the counter top. Cats do not like the texture and the crinkling sound, which will make them less likely to jump up on the counter top when they see or hear the foil.

It appears that my 1 year Tali taught my newest 3 month kitten, Chatty how to jump up on the counter top this past week. Chatty has been jumping up and exploring this new area incessantly, and even knocking items off! I am making note of these tips and will give them a try!
